Goldfrapp tour dates

March 18th, 2008 · No Comments

Following the release of their critically-acclaimed fourth album Seventh Tree, Goldfrapp will perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA on April 25. The band will then play the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco on April 26 and the Beacon Theatre in New York City on April 29. Please see complete show information below.

Goldfrapp Spring U.S. Tour Dates:
April 25 Coachella Festival (Empire Polo Grounds) - Indio, CA
April 26 Warfield Theatre - San Francisco, CA
April 29 Beacon Theatre - New York, NY

In praise of a recent sold-out show at Union Chapel in London, The Observer said, “Alison’s voice ranges from breathy to soaring, redemptive. This is bold stuff.”

Goldfrapp will also appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on April 22 and KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” on April 23.
Seventh Tree is available now on Mute Records.  The new album, which debuted at number two on the U.K. album charts, arrives on the heels of Goldfrapp’s third album, Supernature, which enjoyed international chart success selling over one million copies worldwide and earning two GRAMMY® nominations.  Conceived as a sensual counterpoint to the pulsating glitterball glamour of Supernature, Seventh Tree features 10 new original tracks, written and produced by Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and recorded at their studio deep in the English countryside. Seventh Tree’s first single “A&E” is available now for download and purchase in stores.

Called “languorous and spell-binding” by The New York Times, Goldfrapp are widely acknowledged for their uncompromising aesthetic. Equally renowned for the self-created visual theatrics of their live performances, Goldfrapp embody an ambitious inventiveness that Blackbook calls “textural soundscapes and a performance-art live spectacular.”

Goldfrapp’s debut album Felt Mountain was released in 2000 to widespread acclaim and was shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2001. Goldfrapp’s second album Black Cherry followed in 2003 and marked a stylistic departure from its predecessor. In 2005, Goldfrapp returned with the critically-acclaimed and GRAMMY®-nominated album Supernature.

Rolling Stones to quit touring after 45 years

August 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

I think it’s time…

“THE Rolling Stones will reportedly quit touring for good after playing London’s O2 Arena this Sunday after 45 years in the music business.

The veteran rockers are believed to have declared that their current A Bigger Bang Tour will be their last because frontman Sir Mick Jagger, 64, and guitarist Keith Richards, 63, will be too old to do another.

A source said: “We’ve been told this will be the last tour. Embarking on a Stones world tour takes years to plan. Mick and Keith would be in their late 60s by the time they would be ready to rock once more.”

Mick, Keith, drummer Charlie Watts, 66, and guitarist Ronnie Wood, 60, end their massive two-year tour this week with three dates at the new O2 Arena, with their final performance on Sunday.

The band was formed in 1962 and has been touring regularly ever since.

The group have sold more than 200 million albums worldwide over the last five decades and played thousands of sold-out shows.

The Stones have been receiving rave reviews for the latest leg of their tour - and wowed 60,000 at Ireland’s Slane Castle on Saturday.

The band started in London in 1962 with original leader Brian Jones, but he was usurped by the songwriting partnership of singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards.

Jones died in 1969, shortly after being fired from the band and was replaced by 20-year-old Mick Taylor.

The band has released 55 albums and have had 37 top-10 singles. They have sold over 300 million albums worldwide. Their latest album, A Bigger Bang, was released in 2005 and their world tour is still continuing.”

Winehouse Cancels More Shows Due To ‘Health Issues’

August 16th, 2007 · 1 Comment

281×211.jpg

“As Amy Winehouse continues to recuperate from her hospital visit last week — which her representatives insist was due to exhaustion but some media sources claim was a drug overdose — she has canceled another festival appearance.

After pulling out of shows in Norway and Denmark last week and two scheduled opening slots for the Rolling Stones this week, a spokesperson said Thursday (August 16) that Winehouse has pulled the plug on her Saturday and Sunday slots at the V Festival this weekend in England.

“Amy Winehouse is putting all her touring commitments for this month on hold until further notice in order to address her health issues,” read a statement from spokeswoman Tracey Miller. “Amy will now not be performing at this weekend’s V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire. Her family has requested that the media respect Amy’s privacy at this time. There will be no further comment.”

Miller, who said at the time that Winehouse’s trip to the emergency room at the University College London Hospital on August 8 was due to exhaustion, denied that the 23-year-old singer has checked into a rehabilitation facility, as has been widely reported in the British tabloids.

Miller said Winehouse continues to be on bed rest on doctor’s orders and, as of press time, was still expected to honor her commitment to a string of U.S. tour dates with opening act Paolo Nutini slated to kick off on September 12 with a gig in New York’s Central Park.

She said Winehouse is also still planning to attend and perform at MTV’s Video Music Awards on September 9 in Las Vegas, where she is nominated for three awards, including Video of the Year for “Rehab,” Best New Artist and Female Artist of the Year.”

Eagles putting finishing touches on new album

August 6th, 2007 · No Comments

2007_08_04t132645_450×323_us_eagles.jpg

NEW YORK (Billboard) - The Eagles have almost completed their first studio album since 1979’s “The Long Run,” and plan to tour extensively next year, guitarist Joe Walsh says.

“We’re just finishing vocals and mixing it. We’re all finally signing off on it,” Walsh told Billboard.com

All of the band members — Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmit and Walsh — wrote songs for the album, which he said “go in some really, really new, different directions. It’s hard to compare to anything that I hear out there now.”

For his songs, however, Walsh “went rock ‘n’ roll … I didn’t want us to be too ballad-y here. We need some stuff we can play live, so I made sure there was that element in the record.”
