The UNC Tar Heels won the NCAA championship beating Michigan State 89-72. Now they’re waiting to see if juniors, Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington, will go to the NBA draft a year early. Senior, Tyler Hansbrough, leaves UNC as one of the most decorated players in college history. He’s earned three-time consensus All-American honors. He’s the fourth all-time leading scorer in NCAA tournament with 325 points, and ACC’s all-time leading scorer. The first player in conference history to lead his team in scoring and rebounding for four years straight. Now he adds a ring to his finger. Congratulations to Tyler and the Boys on their win. Congratulations to President Obama who picked UNC to win it all this year. See, he’s already better then Bush.. I bet he wouldn’t have traded Sosa?
Opening Day is my favorite day! For all the money the Yankees laid out for CC Sabathia and Mark Teixeira, they certainly got there asses kicked on Opening day, losing to the Orioles 5-10. Teixeria went hitless and Sabathia gave up 6 runs. Every Met fan should rejoice for once they have a better record then the Yankees. The Dodgers beat the Padres 4-1. The loss broke Jake Peavy’s 11-game winning streak against the Dodgers. In more exciting news there is a book about A-Rod being released on May 12th, written by Sports Illustrated reporter Selena Robert. You can all bet your bottoms I’ll be the first on line for that book.
Phil Jackson said there’s a chance Andrew Bynum may be joining the team again this week. Bynum’s been out since January 31st. If this happens watch out Lebron, we’re coming after you for the best record. I’d love to see a Lakers/Cavs finale or a Kobe vs. Lebron finale. Finally, see who’s really better. The Giants let Plaxico Burress go on Friday, but on Monday he won his grievance against the team . According to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, arbitrator Stephen Burbank ruled the Giants must pay Burress a $1 million bonus, plus an undisclosed amount for a 2008 roster bonus. I don’t understand how you get money if you break the law. Isn’t it his own fault? He’s the one who couldn’t play. These Athletes get away with everything.
Actually, it seems in some cases even murder. Remember OJ?

April 5th, 2009 · No Comments
New York, NY – The Killers have tapped New Hampshire quartet Wild Light to be the main support on their upcoming North American tour, which kicks off April 17, 2009 at the highly anticipated re-opening of Las Vegas’ premier rock club, The Joint. During this 10 city trek Wild Light will play to packed crowds at arenas including the San Jose Events Center in San Jose and the WAMU Theater in Seattle, before closing the tour with a final show at the Capitol Federal Park in Bonner Springs, KS on May 2nd.
This highly coveted main supporting slot comes on the heels of what has already been a wildly successful 2009 for Wild Light. The band kicked off the year with a bang when they hit the road with Tapes N Tapes for their first ever National tour, in support of the March 3rd release of their debut album Adult Nights (Startime International). Recorded in LA with famed producer Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith) the album has received raves from prestigious publications including SPIN, Rolling Stone, The LA Times, Paste Magazine and Billboard among others. Following their run with Tapes N Tapes, the band descended upon Austin, TX at the annual SXSW Music Festival where they played a slew of successful performances to fans and industry heads alike from across the world.

Preseason football will kick off on ESPN, August 13th, 2009, at 8pm, with a rematch of Super Bowl XLIII Steelers vs. Cardinals. Maybe this time Kurt and the boys will win. T.O. said in interview with Sportsnet, a Canadian television channel,. “You hear all the speculation, and you talk to the owner of the team, and he reassures you, you’re not going anywhere and then, out of left-field … you get blindsided,” Owens said. I’m sorry, but the whole country knew you were gone. I’m not sure how that could have been a surprise to you? Ryan Moats and his wife Tamishia were on ‘Good Morning America’ to talk about getting detained by Dallas police while her mother was dying in a hospital. ”When you’re in a situation like that you really don’t think about how dangerous it is, because honestly he could have shot me,” Tamishia Moats said. “I mean, he pointed the gun at me and basically said, you know, don’t take another step, don’t move, get
back over here.” .She ran into the ER anyway to say goodbye to her dying Mother. The police officer issued a statement through his lawyers, and has been suspended with pay. After this incident, Dallas Cowboys, Zack Thomas, came forward and said his wife Maritza was pulled over, handcuffed and put in jail for 3 hours for making an illegal U-turned in 2008. They are now pressing charges as well. I don’t trust Texas. George Bush is from Texas and was the Governor of Texas. Need I say more?
Mark Cuban was fined $25,000 for criticizing officials on his Twitter page after Denver’s 103-101 win over Dallas. He was angry that Nuggets J.R. Smith wasn’t called for coming off the bench to trash talk Antoine Wright after he missed a shot near there bench. He also blogged “can’t say no one makes money from Twitter now. The NBA does.” Hmm, maybe next time Mark will think before he Twitters. The
Calvaliers set a franchise record of 12 straight wins on Sunday beating Dallas 102-74. Mark Cuban’s having a bad week. Sunday night Lebron appeared on 60 Minutes. He talked to host Steve Kroft about winning an NBA title. “It’s one of the ultimate goals for me as a basketball player,” James said. Well Lebron this could be your year.
George W. Bush is finding things to do now that he’s retired. He will be throwing out the first pitch at the Rangers’ home opener on Monday. Another job he messed up. Why would anybody trade Sammy Sosa? What
are those Texans thinking? I miss A-Rod. Get back to NY soon.
Cage The Elephant “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked”
March 28th, 2009 · No Comments
March 28, 2009 — All grown up, Cage The Elephant has their major record label debut album coming out on April 21st… An it’s available iTunes now thought and doing quite well, charting in the top 10 Rock albums.
Go back 2 years and a good friend told me I should check these guys out and I did, so much that I contacted them and help set up a Blender (R.I.P.) interview when they were in New York. They were from the same small southern town that my mother grew up in, Bowling Green, KY and I really thought they had what it took to make it but much like the Kings of Leon had to go to UK to make it happen first.
Below was the second time I saw them play and that interview happened, before Q Prime Management, before Britney Spears A & R guy and about every other major player in the business and head of family gathered to see them…
Upcoming tour dates:
4/11 Hi Dive Seattle, WA
4/13 Berbati’s Pan Portland, OR
4/15 Cafe du Nord San Francisco, CA
4/17 Coachella Festival Indio, CA
4/18 House of Blues San Diego, CA
4/19 Modified Phoenix, AZ
4/21 Marquis Denver, CO
4/24 Subterranean Chicago, IL
4/25 House of Blues Cleveland, OH

I love A-Rod drama and there is no shortage of it. First there was his wife wearing the Chrome Hearts Fuck You tank top at Yankee stadium. Then there was Madonna and divorce. After that Steroid use, then hip surgery and now Prostitutes. This man is the new Britney Spears of gossip. New reports are coming out that A-rod was a client of Kristin Davis‘s high priced call girl service, and he also dated Kristin herself. According to her, she didn’t charge him for herself of course. I mean hookers have to have their standards. Kristin also serviced Elliot Spitzer. In the new book she’s writing, I’m sure a lot more high profile names will come out along side A-rod’s. Oh yes, his rehab is going very well, but it’s unlikely he’ll be back with the
team before April 1st. Team USA lost to Japan 4-9 in the semi finals at Dodger stadium on Sunday eliminating them from the WBC. The boys will head back to spring training and get ready for April 6th. It’s a
little depressing that the USA is getting beaten at it’s ‘All American’ sport. Japan beat Korea 5-2 on Monday night to win the WBC championship. Curt Schilling announced his retirement from baseball on Monday after 23 years of playing the game. “The things I was allowed to experience, the people I was able to call friends, teammates, mentors, coaches and opponents, the travel, all of it, are far more than anything I ever thought possible in my lifetime,” Schilling wrote in his blog on Monday.
It wouldn’t be a week if a professional football player didn’t get arrested. Oakland Raiders tackle Cornell Green was arrested on a domestic violence charge in Florida on Saturday. Tampa police say Green slammed the mother of his 2 children against a wall and hit her with an aluminum mop handle during a fight. These men need to take xanx during the off season. Terrell Owens missed the start of the Buffalo Bills’ 12-week voluntary conditioning program Monday, but they expect him to show up at some point. I wouldn’t hold my breath on that and the word voluntary means he doesn’t really have to.

The Lakers clinched the Western Conference and The Cavs clinched the Eastern Conference. Bring on the playoffs! Kevin Garrett has rejoined the Boston Celtics this week after missing 13 games. He’s
taking it slow, playing only 15 mins a game for now. Even Obama is getting into March Madness. The President correctly picked 14 of the 16 teams to reach the regional semifinals on Sunday. You gotta love a man who loves his sports. I hope he puts that basketball court in the White House.

Plaxico Burress is due in court on March 31. If convicted, he faces a mandatory 3½ years in Jail. The New York Giants started their voluntary off season workouts on Monday without him. The Jaguars have waived receiver Matt Jones parting ways on Monday, following his latest arrest this last week in Arkansas for violating a plea agreement from a drug charge in 2008. Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth is awaiting his toxicology report after hitting and killing a 59-year-old man, Mario Reyes , with his Bentley on Saturday morning in Miami. There are going to be no football players left at this rate. Stop breaking the law!

Manny signs! Manny’s hurt! Manny hurt his left hamstring the first day he arrived at spring training. I was luckily enough to watch him DH a few inning this past weekend, and I’m happy to report he’s still hitting like a gem. My boys are looking good. I can’t wait until opening day. Veteran Mark Sweeney announced his retirement last week, and the same day announced he will be a coach for the Dodgers. Sweeney was a pinch hitter last year for the Dodgers. Team USA is injury prone. They’ve already lost Chipper Jones and Dustin Pedroia to muscle strains. Sunday night Matt Lindstrom left the squad after experiencing soreness in his shoulder in the USA 9-3 victory over the Netherlands. My fave, Ryan Braun, left the game in the 8th inning on Sunday with a strain in his right side. “I want to play tomorrow,” Braun said. “That’s my intent.” Johnson said that the Brewers’ player has a tendency to not admit when he’s hurt. “He wanted me to keep an open mind and let him swing tomorrow,” Johnson said. “I know ballplayers. … I [said], “I know you’re lying to me right now. I also got word from the Brewers you might not be honest with me.” Ryan will stay with the team, but mostly likely won’t play. I love a man that pushes through the pain!
