So I got 1 of 4 right this weekend… I mean who would of thought The Cardinals would beat the Falcons. Warner played an almost perfect game. Did anyone else see that coming? Payton Manning, this years MVP? Losing in San Diego..? The wild card race is turning upside down. As a Giant fan I’m not happy the Eagles won. We have a tough time against Philly. Let’s talk Ravens. They looked amazing Sunday. Something tells me we’ll be seeing them deep into the playoffs, maybe even the Superbowl. Chargers running back Ladainian Tomlinson played for 2 quarters on Saturday against the Colts. Tomlinson has a strained groin. Reports surfaced Saturday that he has a detached tendon. Asked about his short-term health, Tomlinson said: “I’m worried about my health. I’m very concerned.” The team is still saying it’s a strained groin. “It’s a strained groin. That’s what our medical report is,” Chargers coach Norv Turner said. LT’s answers raise questions to me about the truth of what we’re being told? “It’s a medical issue,” he said. “That’s all I’ll say about it. I’m not a doctor, and I’m not going to stand up here and act like one.” Asked if he was advised to have surgery, he said: “I can’t answer that.” LT, whatever it is I hope your taking the proper care of yourself. Boston College coach, Jeff Jagodzinski, has been told he will be fired if he interviews for the head coaching job with the New York Jets, which is scheduled for Monday, according to sources. Despite the threat from athletic director Gene DeFilippo, Jagodzinski plans to go ahead with the interview with the Jets. That’s not a very Catholic thing for the athletic director to do!
The Boston Red Sox and Pitcher Brad Penny have reached a preliminary agreement for a one-year, $5 million contract. Derek Lowe has rejected the Mets offer of $36 million for 3 years. He’s hoping to get about $16 million a year. The Mets are expected to up their offer for him. They’re also considering Oliver Perez and Randy Wolf if Lowe doesn’t accept. The Brewers, Phillies, Red Sox and Angels are also interested in acquiring Lowe. The Dodgers and Andruw Jones have agreed to a trade or a release before spring training. He’s agreed to defer much of the $22 million remaining on his contract. The Dodgers will inquire about interest in Jones around the league, hoping a team might take him at his discounted salary of about $5 million. Andruw has given up $17 million dollars to leave the Dodgers, and as of right now, there is still no one interested in him. Once one of the highest paid men in baseball now unwanted. How fast the glory goes.
DUI’s handed out this week in the Basketball world: Suns guard, Jason Richardson, arrested outside of Phoenix, former NBA player Antoine Walker in Miami and, yes, my favorite, Sir Charles. His reasoning is also my favorite. He was rushing to pick up a girl, who gave him the best ‘blow job’ of his life. He had donuts and wine coolers in the car for them. The man is NUTS… I have to ask Charles, wine coolers, really??? Lakers forward, Luke Walton, will be out for 2 weeks with sesamoiditis in his right foot. This coming after losing Jordan Farmer for 2 months. The NBA did not take any action against Vince Carter or official Derrick Stafford, who used the word ‘”boy” during an argument with Carter at Wednesday night’s game in Detroit. “We have spoken to both Vince and Derrick about their exchange during Wednesday’s game, and decided not to take any action with respect to the language that was used or any inadvertent contact that may have occurred,” the League said Friday in a statement provided in an e-mail by spokesman Tim Frank. That’s a touchy situation… They were right to just move on!
Go Giants!
