González released his sophomore album “In Our Nature” on Mute September 2007. He recently completed a Green tour of North America with Reverb Rock (www.reverbrock.org) and digitally released the “In Our Nature Remixes EP” – featuring remixes from Todd Terje, Penchenga Nord, Beatfanatic, and Landberg & Skogehall – on Earth Day, April 22nd.
González also released the digital single “Teardrop” featuring the exclusive b-side “Four Forks Ache” on May 6th. (“Teardrop” is originally performed/recorded by Massive Attack).
“For a musician whose appeal seems to be an even, responsible, enlightened serenity — don’t-wake-the-baby music — he was nice and forceful, just alone with his instrument, his voice dry and his guitar laden with echo. Nylon-string guitars often produce a rounded sound, but with his economical, decisive, percussive strikes he made a sound like an ax splitting a log.”

Mute has licensed DFA recording artist Hercules & Love Affair for release in the USA. The debut album “Hercules & Love Affair” will be released in America on June 24, 2008. The album release is preceded by the first single “Blind” – already a dancefloor favorite – May 27, 2008.
Hercules & Love Affair is 2008’s most exciting dancefloor concoction, an arthouse vision of pure pop by way of futuristic electronica and classic dance music, where beautiful, bruising harmonies and tensile rhythms collide in resurgent soundscapes and emotive disco workouts.
Called “A gloriously burnished fusion of 3 decades of classic dance music” by the UK’s Mojo, the album was a top-40 UK chart debut. The NME calls the album “The most-blessed thing you’ll be freaking out to on the dancefloor,” and Vogue UK says “If Ziggy Stardust made house music it would sound like this.”
Hercules & Love Affair is Andrew Butler with Antony, Nomi, and Kim Ann. Butler emerged from making music for college-based dance projects into a fully-fledged recording artist, via the New York art scene. He hooked up with his friends from there, including Nomi, Kim Ann and Antony and Hercules & Love Affair is the result.
The album is co-produced by Andrew Butler with Tim Goldsworthy of DFA at Plantain Studios in the midst of Manhattan, New York City.
Following the release of their critically-acclaimed fourth album Seventh Tree, Goldfrapp will perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA on April 25. The band will then play the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco on April 26 and the Beacon Theatre in New York City on April 29. Please see complete show information below.
Goldfrapp Spring U.S. Tour Dates: April 25 Coachella Festival (Empire Polo Grounds) - Indio, CA
April 26 Warfield Theatre - San Francisco, CA
April 29 Beacon Theatre - New York, NY
In praise of a recent sold-out show at Union Chapel in London, The Observer said, “Alison’s voice ranges from breathy to soaring, redemptive. This is bold stuff.”
Goldfrapp will also appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on April 22 and KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” on April 23.
Seventh Tree is available now on Mute Records. The new album, which debuted at number two on the U.K. album charts, arrives on the heels of Goldfrapp’s third album, Supernature, which enjoyed international chart success selling over one million copies worldwide and earning two GRAMMY® nominations. Conceived as a sensual counterpoint to the pulsating glitterball glamour of Supernature, Seventh Tree features 10 new original tracks, written and produced by Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory and recorded at their studio deep in the English countryside. Seventh Tree’s first single “A&E” is available now for download and purchase in stores.
Called “languorous and spell-binding” by The New York Times, Goldfrapp are widely acknowledged for their uncompromising aesthetic. Equally renowned for the self-created visual theatrics of their live performances, Goldfrapp embody an ambitious inventiveness that Blackbook calls “textural soundscapes and a performance-art live spectacular.”
Goldfrapp’s debut album Felt Mountain was released in 2000 to widespread acclaim and was shortlisted for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2001. Goldfrapp’s second album Black Cherry followed in 2003 and marked a stylistic departure from its predecessor. In 2005, Goldfrapp returned with the critically-acclaimed and GRAMMY®-nominated album Supernature.
It’s an electronic album, if you know Moby at all then, of course you would expect this.
I like the phat beats of this new single. I love the Midi Remix.
I actually love it! I can’t wait to hear more new songs from him!!
It’s similar to what I listen to most of the time. A lot of the local Dj’s I go see here in MN have this Phat sound
I enjoy the vocals as well. And if you like Electronic music at all I highly recommend it!!
I don’t know much about how to DJ or anything but I think this single would be amazing live!~ Who wants to go see Moby with me?!
I don’t enjoy the acappella remix on this album as much though. It’s a lot slower and not as exciting!~
And the DROP THE LIME HEAVY BASS remix is SWEET! If you like Drum and Bass I think you will like this one more

The official music video for Richard Hawley’s “Valentine” from his new album Lady’s Bridge (out now on Mute). Directed by Shane Meadows.
Happy VALENTINE’S DAY FROM VICARIOUS MUSIC
When asked about “Valentine” Hawley reveals, “The chorus is one of the oldest pieces of music I’ve ever written. I could never get anything else to go with it. But I picked up the guitar in the studio and started singing the chorus and then I made up the verse on the spot. I don’t like being over prepared, I like to keep that Sun Studio vibe where the red light comes on and it’s like, “C’mon son, what have you got?” It’s quite tragic that song, it’s like a kind of Yorkshire Shakespearian tragedy. It’s about somebody who’s made themselves really hard after heartbreak. I’ve been through that. I was there once in my early twenties before I met our lass, you make yourself into something you’re not. The song is about a tender moment where you face the truth.”
Lady’s Bridge hit stores October 2nd to critical praise from Newsweek, Entertainment Weekly, GQ, Filter, SPIN, and more. The album’s currently nominated for a PLUG Independent Music Award for Americana Album of the Year.
