I was out with a lot of my former co-workers from my RCA Records days on Thursday and I saw Albert play Hiro Ballroom for Spin earlier this week also, so I revert to Strokes talk, all day, every day (was my obsession when I was an RCA employee). Here’s the scoop, the Strokes are NOT broken up but they have hit Side Project heaven…Albert is about to hit the road with his own band to support his latest release. Julian is out supporting converse with Pharrell and Santogold (the commercial/video is insane in case you haven’t seen it). My favorite Stroke, is Fabrizio Moretti (Fab), arguably the sweetest guy on this planet, an incredible drummer and not to mention one of the best damn artists around. I found out this week that Fab has launched a solo side project dubbed Little Joy with pals Rodrigo Aramante of Los Hermanos and another guy who has dubbed himself Binki Shapiro. At this point I’ve confirmed that A Little Joy will release a record sometime this fall on Rough Trade Records (probably only in the U.K.) so get ready for the import.
