Here at Vicarious we make a conscious decision not to post information on American Idol. This decision is both personal and professional.

However, there was no denying the HILARITY of this clip, and I guess we’re not against American Idol as long as we’re making fun of it.  And without further ado, here is Paula Abdul justifying ALL the rumors.

Radiohead, who have been widely commended for their innovative “pay as you wish” program launched for In Rainbows, have gone on record stating it as a one time deal.

Tom Yorke told the Hollywood Reporter ” think it was a one-off response to a particular situation… It was a one-off in terms of a story. It was one of those things where we were in the position of everyone asking us what we were going to do. I don’t think it would have the same significance now anyway, if we chose to give something away again. It was a moment in time”.

It’s no secret that the program was set up in direct response to Radiohead’s disdain at the old-school major label model, having occurred directly after their separation from EMI.

Fans should expect to be paying for future Radiohead releases.

Game

And here’s Jayceon’s obligatory Sean Bell/police fuckery track. I’d say that I’m already tired of all these tributes, but I can’t help but loving all of this anti-police sentiment.

The music industry has some competition today.  Rockstar games has released its HIGHLY anticipated newest edition of video game monster Grand Theft Auto.

One of the most sophisticated games to date, GTAIV was pushed back from October 07 till now to perfect their technology.  Tapping into the music market the game features a bevy of radio stations spanning the genres, over 200 in game tracks and a direct link to buy through Amazon.com.

Where are going going to spend your money today?

Brand new on to the scene Forever the Sickest Kids release their debut album Underdog Alma Mater  today.

These boys are quickly becoming the next big thing, selling over 100k digital tracks before their album was even released, and joining the mainstage of Warped all summer long.

If FTSK knows how to do anything (besides have fun) it’s write a good, solid pop/punk/rock song.  You can’t help but sing along to the anthemic first single “Whoa” or crowd favorites “Hey Brittany” and “Believe Me, I’m Lying”.

Hopefully they’ll be celebrating killer first week sales at Bamboozle this Sunday.

Scott Weiland is going to jail…for 192 hours to be exact.

Such are the terms of the plea bargin he entered into after a second DUI arrest this past November.  He’ll serve an additional 4 years probation, attend 18 hours of alcohol education class and pay over 2k in fines.

Time must be served before May 28th, and we are DAMN happy about that since STP don’t play PNC Bank Arts till May 31st, and we have tickets, and by GOD that asshole better show up.

On the heals of another freely posted NIN song, and amidst talks of Metallica giving away digital tracks…Coldplay announces their “happy medium” between the labels and fans.

Coldplay has decided to give away a free digital download of their first single “Violet, 4:11″ off their soon to be released new album Viva La Vida or Death and all His Friends (June 12th).

The track will be available for free for ONE WEEK ONLY beginning tomorrow at 7:15AM EST.

Great idea, and a fabulous compromise.
