CAMP22, the four-man phenom from Atlanta GA that is responsible for a new genre of Hip-Hop called “Crank Music” has just signed to Cinematic Music Group home to such artists as Sean Kingston, Nipsey Hussle, Young Berg, Question and Smoke & The Drumatics.
Camp22’S first release is slated for a mid-2008 release date. Camp22 consists of Lil Playboy, Young Jit, Yella Boy Trent, and Lil Lit. In 2007 the group decided to tape their dance moves and post them onto YouTube. The world soon took notice and their “Crank That Yank” video eventually became one of the most popular videos on the net today with over 20 million views.
The Camp literally created a movement, those very dance steps were the inspiration behind Soulja Boy’s hit “Crank Dat, Soulja Boy” as well as the thousands of “user-generated” videos posted by fans on YouTube. To ensure that they are not be mistaken as just a novelty or a spin-off group the Camp has been hard at work in the studio creating their own sound.“I don’t believe in signing a one-hit record, I believe in signing artists with albums.” says Cinematic Music Group’s President, Jon “Shipes” Shapiro. “I didn’t sign Camp22 without flying them up to NYC to make sure they were for real and more than just a song or dance.” he adds. “After doing my research I found out that these guys were the ones really starting the trends down in ATL - starting the dances, so that along with their dope songs & swag I was sold.”“Camp22 is extremely excited at this opportunity with Cinematic, we steady crankin in the studio right now, we on our grind and we’re destined to be the next major act out of Tha A.”The Camp is about to cash in.
