Who Directed “Down the line” from IN OUR NATURE?

Mute Records is proud to announce Jose Gonzalez’ Green Tour of North America in the spring. The tour, which starts on February 29th in Miami, FL, is in partnership with Reverb(www.reverbrock.org), a non-profit organization designed to educate and engage music fans and promote environmental sustainability. They work closely with artists to create earth-friendly events and tours. As part of the greening of Gonzalez’ upcoming tour, his rider will include biodegradable catering products, and a reduction of plastic water bottles will be facilitated by providing his crew with re-usable water bottles to carry throughout the tour. In addition, Gonzalez and Reverb will calculate the CO2 footprint of the tour and neutralize emissions from venue energy use, ground transportation, flights and hotel accommodations by supporting clean renewable energy projects.There will be a 50 cent add on to general ticket purchases that will support Reverb’s greening efforts. Pre-sale ticket purchasers via Ticketstoday (links below) will also have the option to add an additional 50 cents to NativeEnergy’s CO2 Offset program. At the shows, fans will have the opportunity to purchase a custom Jose Gonzalez sticker, the money from which will be used to purchase carbon offsets generated from travel to and from the show. Reverb will also have a presence at the merch booth.

Gonzalez’ green tour follows tours this past fall with many sold out shows, and will see him showcasing songs from his latest record IN OUR NATURE (released Sept. 25, 2007 on Mute). The album Pitchfork suggested showed enough “talent to make good on those lofty Pink Moon comparisons,” won widespread acclaim, garnering inclusion on best of 2007 year end lists and securing Gonzalez spots on The Late Show with Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live. IN OUR NATURE has also been nominated for “Americana Album of the Year” by the 2008 Plug Awards (http://www.plugawards.com) and Gonzalez himself is up for “Male Artist of the Year”.

Jimmy crack corn! Amy Winehouse has voluntarily checked herself into a rehab center, according to her record label.

Universal says Winehouse needs “specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction and prepare for her planned appearance at the Grammy Awards.” Amy met with her record label, management, family and doctors today to discuss her treatment options.

The news comes just days after grainy video of Winehouse allegedly smoking crack made its way around the Internet.

Nielsen SoundScan Digital Album Card Policy:

Effective Week 3 (week ending 1/20/08) in the U.S., Nielsen SoundScan will begin tracking sales of the new album configuration: digital album card. A digital album card will be counted as a physical album sale at the point-of-purchase when the content described on the card is that of a specific album and where there is no option to redeem the digital album card for any content other than what is described on the digital album card at the point of purchase.  Additionally, the point of purchase transaction must trigger a business process at the record company which is substantially similar to the sale of a physical CD. These sales will be reflected under the CD sales configuration in Nielsen SoundScan.

If the consumer has any option to redeem the digital album card for content other than what is displayed on the card at the point of purchase, that sale will be counted at the point of redemption when the consumer’s purchase decision is confirmed. Point of redemption sales will be reported by the redemption company and will be reflected in Nielsen SoundScan as a digital album sale.  For digital album cards where the point of purchase transaction does not trigger a business process at the record company which is substantially similar to the sale of a physical CD, the transaction will be counted as a digital album sale at the point of redemption.
