Velvet Revolver aren’t role models
December 14th, 2007 · No Comments
Scott Weiland made sure to clear that up at last night’s Hollywood show where he “defended” his recent arrest by saying:
“This isn’t the Mormom Tabernacle Fucking Choir”
quite true indeed.

A sad time in the biz…
December 14th, 2007 · No Comments
The holiday’s have become an increasingly hard time in the music business…as times get tougher and it becomes more and more difficult to make their year, labels have gotten into the habit of issueing MAJOR layoffs right before the holidays.
Those of us inside it spend most of November worrying about our safety, and those spared can do nothing but stand by and watch their family of co workers disapear without notice.
Over the past few weeks news has been trickling in from all of the majors…but none of the cuts so far compare to the massacre that occured yesterday in the Geffen/Interscope family.
60 employees were laid off due to the decided merge of the two perviously seperate labels.
Both labels had HUGE disapointments with albums they invested big money into including Will.I.Am, Eve and Nicole Scherzinger…a combined 18 million dollars with almost zero recoup on sales…so instead they sacrificed 60 jobs.
This is becoming the ever popular method, consolidation. The RCA music group has done it by sharing services between zomba, J and RCA, rumor is that Columbia and Epic are in the midst of an intergration, Capitol and Virgin are now one…and the list is sure to grow.
As people whose lively hoods depend on the success and sustinance of labels Vicarious Music’s heart goes out to those who have suffered the rath of the flailing industry, and we would like to open up our comments section to you as a venting post. It’s a time for us to bind together to help this industry, let us know your thoughts and your story.

Weiland’s going to jail…
December 13th, 2007 · No Comments
Official charges have been pressed following Scott Weiland’s November 21st DUI arrest.
He’s being charged with driving under the influence of drugs with a prior conviction, and allegations of refusing to take a chemical test that is mandatory by law.
The sentence he is facing if convicted is a max of 1 year in jail, minimum or 8 days, $1000 fine (like he cares about that) and the impoundment of his car for 30 days….
