Amy Winehouse has canceled all concerts and public appearances for the rest of the year on doctor’s orders. “The rigors involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll,” said “In the interests of her health and well-being, Amy has been ordered to take complete rest and deal with her health issues.” The decision by the 24-year-old retro soul singer comes “on the instruction of her doctor,” the statement said. Her family asked the media to “respect Amy’s privacy at this time.”Winehouse’s 25-year-old husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, was ordered held in custody in London earlier this month on charges stemming from a case in which he is accused of assaulting a barman in June.“I can’t give it my all onstage without my Blake,” Winehouse said in a statement . “I’m so sorry but I don’t want to do the shows halfheartedly; I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him, it’s just not the same.”She had been scheduled to perform in Britain and
Ireland.

Refunds will be given at outlets where the tickets were purchased. There are “no plans at the moment” to reschedule the dates.

Word on the street is she’s checking herself into Rehab on Blake’s request.  Some are saying that he’s sobered up in jail (it’s not so easy to get drugs in there) and now he wants Amy to do the same.

This also means that there will be very little promotion done around the U.S release of her debut album “Frank” which became available for the first time in the States last week.

Birdman should be out promoting his upcoming album 5*Stunna, not getting arrested….

Which is exactly what he did last night instead.

He was one of 16 people charged with illegal drug possession (marijuana, are you surprised?) last night when his RV was pulled over by police for a traffic violation.

Upon searching the vehicle police found OVER A POUND OF POT throw into the on board trash can…great hiding spot.

There were several firearms also found in the vehicle, and the police have issued an investigation to make sure they are licensed and registered, at this point no charges have been filed on that front.

No word yet if the 16 got themselves out of jail…

I’m so torn over today’s charts.  I know that as a member of the music community, whose rate of pay is directly correlated to the number of albums sold, I should be happy today.  I should be happy to see that once again the entire top 10 is above 100k sold-it should give me pride and hope…

But, there’s the other side of me.  The side that although claimed by a major label, has NOT yet sold out.  And this side of me thinks that the Top 10 is gross.

I’m sorry but for the most part it is consumed by mass marketed crapola that I’d rather gauge my eyes out with a fork than listen to.  Josh Groban singing Christmas music? Pass.  High School Musical 2? Pass. Now 26, Pass pass pass pass pass….

Where is MY music? Down at number 71, the Foo Fighters-One of the only remaining great bands putting out real music today and in 9 weeks they haven’t even gone gold.

 And then again, down to #77, Nine Inch Nails…selling a personally disapointed 17k copies in this, their first week….

What is going on here? Someone help! Save the music, save the bands who play instruments and write their songs….Someone SAVE ROCK!!!

We at vicariousmusic apologize for being M.I.A the past few days but we’ve been a bit busy with our hectic holiday schedule of stuffing our faces and napping.

But now that we’re awake…here’s a quick recap of all the trashy music gossip that we, and hence you, missed:

Amy Winehouse: Her husband, who is currently in jail for battery and then trying to bribe the witness not to testify against him, was denied a request for bail.  Jail is where he will stay at the very least until his next hearing on January 18th. Amy thus did not have a happy holiday.

Britney Spears: Is just as crazy as ever.  Bitch don’t learn! First of all last week she was revoked the right to drive with her children.  So she said she’d get a driver…but she didn’t and has been seen driving, with sunglasses, at night all weekend.

In more crazy Britney news, sources are saying that in the wake of losing custody of Jayden and Sean, she has set into works a plan to adopt chinese twins.  Ummm…aren’t there strict rules and stipulations and screenings for this sort of thing?

And last but not least, Britney has apparently set aside 25 grand for…wait for it…her funeral! You thought I was going to say retirement, or children’s college didnt you?  Guess Brit’s realizing her mortality.  While i think it’s a smart move to put aside cash for your funeral so as to not be a burden on your children or loved ones, I just don’t understand the thought process of: adopt little children, but feel like you may die soon….

Hopefully it’s all rumor.

Avril Lavigne: As you know, I don’t like her.  I think she’s annoying and untalented.  However, I do feel bad about her latest streak of bad luck.  Her tour hasn’t been selling, which in and of itself is bad news for an artist since that’s where they make the cash.  Her tour has been doing so bad, as well as the lack of enthusiasm to promoting her album is all catching up with her and in a desperate attempt to redeem herself Avril will be performing a FREE SHOW at the opening of her local Canadian Best Buy. Thats just sad…
