Brian Jonestown Massacre…one of my personal favorites, I love DIG, however I loved BJM before DIG, I loved them from my WOXY days…

About a year or so ago a friend of mine and I attended BJM show at Bowery Ballroom, I had never caught them live, I had tickets before but in true fashion the shows got canceled.  So I wasn’t going to miss this show no matter what.  We arrived about the time we thought they were scheduled to go on, was that a mistake (if you ever get BJM tickets, show up way late, you’ll still be there in plenty of time).

Part of me really was going to for the explosion, I wanted them almost to self destruct, I just wanted to be part of it, I wanted to see it up close.  I wanted to see Anton actually explode.  I got what I wanted.  They went on about 3 hours late, that is not a stretch of the imagination.  When they finally took stage, Anton was in true form, he started off straight into song, then his banter followed… he was preaching, how perfect.  Yelling at the crowd, telling them his every thought, nothing that was that significant…then he continues, BJM gear had been stolen the night before, could it get more perfect.  They barely made this show happen, they had to borrow gear from the openers to pull it off…

I got my experience I got my story and Anton needs to be a cartoon character…he should help the Coyote take on the Roadrunner.
