New Weekly feature: Sunday Comics…(A day in the life of the music business)

November 4th, 2007 · No Comments

Seattle…the alternative capitol in the music industry - alternative modern day music was born there.  It’s also where  Bill Gates built Microsoft and is offering an alternative to the King of the Hill by releasing the Zune.  Soon after incredible launch events (one of which I had the pleasure of attending at The Box featuring Queens of the Stone Age), they premiered the below commercial.

The blog grim reaper soon started its quest by multiple mentions and music industry gossip of how it symbolized the death of Zune (soon after it’s launch).

The music business’ alternative rock label royalty is Sub Pop Records, the home of some of the most buzzed about bands.  Priding itself on being one of the few places in the business where people who have years (by that I mean 10 + years…) of experience and are offered internships (yes, in the conventional sense of people who do bitch work for no money).  This past week I had the pleasure of seeing Sub Pop alumni, Rogue Wave play at the Bowery Ballroom.  They played “Lake Michigan” which was recently featured in a Zune commercial (which we posted earlier in the week)…we believe could be a wave of water that can hopefully dilute the Apple share of the Lake.
