New Radiohead Tour in the Works for 2008

Billboard.com is reporting that a 2008 international Radiohead tour is in the works. Don’t be fooled, though. Anyone who has seen Meeting People is Easy (which I highly recommend) can tell you that the members of Radiohead are far from enamoured with the concept of touring. Expect the tour to be scattered and stick to the big cities. The Billboard piece quotes Bryce Edge as saying “He (Thom) likes to do shows, but the whole business of schlepping around the world is not top of his list of favorite things to do. He really enjoys playing to the fans — it’s just the process of how to do that which is the pain in the neck (for Yorke). They’re not road dogs. They never have been.”

Radiohead is by and far the best live act these days. Their music and their ability to develop their songs in a live forum is unparalleled. Unfortunately, this is a common opinion. I fully expect the 2008 tour to be sold out far before the tickets go on sale to the public. Maybe this is part of what Yorke dislikes about touring. As a fan, I can only hope.
